Default Help me please, Washington Mutual is giving me a hard time?

I have a checking account from Washington Mutual. They send me a debit card through the mail but I never receive it. Someone stole the card and made multiple purchases. I called the bank to report it and they temporary credit me back my money. I went to my local police precinct to report the unauthorized transaction but they are asking for a letter and specific information from my bank which should be notarized. My bank told me that they dont write letters and refer me to the 1-800 number. I called the 1-800 number and they are telling me the same information. I have been back and forth from the police station and my bank like a fool. I am not getting anywhere. I am stuck, I dont know what to do anymore. Is there any other way to deal with this problem?

I went in person, I spoke to a supervisor and they are telling me the same information. I gave the bank my bank statements but thats not proof. They need information which should be notarized coming from the bank.
edit: I show the police station my bank statements but they are telling me its not proof.
